Lucia Zatarain Barron

Dr. Lucia Zatarain works as a medical researcher at the Thoracic Oncology Unit of the National Cancer Institute (INCan) in Mexico City. She specializes in lung cancer research with a strong focus on the design and implementation of clinical trials. During her time at INCan, she has participated in various projects pertaining to the treatment and prognosis of patients with lung cancer, including studies to evaluate new prognostic biomarkers and development of phase I and II clinical trials to improve current treatment strategies, particularly considering patients with limited access to medical care. In acknowledgment to her work, Dr. Zatarain has received the Young Investigator Award from the IASLC IN 2018 as well as the Global Health Award given by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation in 2016.
