Merle I. Ronden

Dr. Ronden was born in 1991 in Amsterdam, the Netherlands. In 2010 she obtained her gymnasium diploma, and became a medical student at the VUmc School of Medical Sciences in Amsterdam, the Netherlands. In 2016 she followed her research internship at the Department of Radiation Oncology at the VU medical center in 2016, under the supervision of prof.dr. Suresh Senan, which led to a PhD fellowship under the joint supervision of prof.dr. Suresh Senan and dr. Idris Bahce after obtaining her master’s degree in 2018. Since April 2021 she is a resident at the Department of Radiation Oncology, Amsterdam UMC, location VU medical center. Her PhD defence is planned in September 2021.

Bilal Tahir

Dr Bilal Tahir is currently a recipient of a Yorkshire Cancer Research Senior Fellowship at the University of Sheffield, UK. He transitioned into full-time academia in 2012 after gaining significant experience as a clinical medical physicist specializing in radiation therapy. He has previously held the prestigious ‘James Morrison Researcher’ and ‘Sheffield Hospitals Charity' fellowships. He has been awarded research income as PI or CoI over £1.5 million. He currently supervises five students and one postdoc. His research focuses on the physics, engineering, and clinical applications of image-guided radiation therapy and the use of artificial intelligence in lung imaging. He was also the recipient of the IPEM (Institute of Physics and Engineering in Medicine) Early Career Academic Award, the most prestigious award for a UK-based academic medical physicist within 12 years of their academic career.
