Merel Jebbink
My name is Merel Jebbink and I'm a fourth year PhD-student at the Antoni van Leeuwenhoek Hospital-Netherlands Cancer Institute. After studying Biomedical Sciences at the VUmc, I studied Medicine (fast track/zij-instroom) at the AMC and graduated by the end of 2017. During several internships, pulmonology and especially thoracic oncology gained my interest. This resulted in a PhD-student position at the AvL-NKI. Under the supervision and mentorship of Egbert Smit and Joop de Langen, I 've been studying the field of EGFR mutation positive NSCLC. I've set up and coordinated several retrospective and prospective studies for this intriguing group of patients with lung cancer. In the future I hope to become a pulmonologist and to combine working in the clinic with patient-oriented research.
In my spare time I love to cook for my friends and family, explore cities and nature and watch movies.

Tijmen van der Wel
My name is Tijmen van der Wel. I found my way to the field of oncogene-driven NSCLC in the NKI/AvL in Amsterdam after studying Medicine and gaining a year of clinical experience at the LUMC in Leiden. This is my second year as a PhD-student, focusing on unraveling TKI resistance mechanisms in non-small cell lung cancer under supervision of Egbert Smit and Joop de Langen.
