Jeffrey C. Thompson

Dr. Thompson is an Assistant Professor of Medicine in the Section of Interventional Pulmonary and Thoracic Oncology at the University of Pennsylvania. Dr. Thompson’s clinical expertise is in advanced diagnostic bronchoscopy and the evaluation and management of patients with lung nodules and thoracic malignancies. His primary research focus is on the development and validation of molecular markers for the treatment selection and monitoring of patients with lung cancer. Dr. Thompson is involved in developing non-invasive diagnostic and prognostic methodologies for the management of patients with lung cancer. In addition, his work focuses on furthering the understanding of tumor-immune interactions and how factors within the tumor microenvironment play a role in mitigating response or resistance to immunotherapeutic approaches. Dr. Thompson is funded through a variety of sources including the NIH and foundation grants to conduct biomarker research in thoracic oncology.
