Ross Soo

Dr. Ross Soo is a senior consultant in the Department of Haematology-Oncology at the National University Cancer Institute Singapore, and an adjunct principal investigator at the Cancer Science Institute of Singapore, National University of Singapore. He received his medical degree from Monash University, underwent specialist training in Melbourne and Sydney, and subsequently became a fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians and the Academy of Medicine, Singapore. He specialises in lung cancer and head and neck cancer and leads the lung tumour group at the National University Cancer Institute, Singapore.

Dr. Soo’s professional affiliations include memberships of the American Society of Clinical Oncology, the International Association for the Study of Lung Cancer, and the Singapore Society of Oncology. He sits on various committees including National Healthcare Group Domain-Specific Ethics Review Board, Ministry of Health Drug Advisory Committee (DAC), DAC-Oncology Drug Subcommittee, Medical Oncology Specialist Training Committee, Chapter of Medical Oncology Executive Committee, and the International Association for the Study of Lung Cancer Communications Committee.

Dario Sangiolo

I am an Associate Professor of at the University of Torino, Department of Oncology, PI of the laboratory of Experimental Cell Therapy at the Candiolo Cancer Institute FPO-IRCCS. My research activity is dedicated to preclinical studies and clinical translation of cancer adoptive immunotherapy approaches based on Cytokine-Induced Killer cells and their CAR-engineering. Main settings of our studies are metastatic melanoma and soft tissue sarcomas. My initial research activities started from the platform of hematopoietic cell transplantation and progressively shifted to adoptive immunotherapy for solid tumors. I earned my MD degree in 1998 at the University of Messina, then moved to the University of Torino to pursue my goal of medical and scientific career. In Torino I earned my Specialization Degree in Medical Oncology (2003) and eventually the PhD in Human Oncology (2008). I spent 3 years (Research fellow 2002/2004 and postdoctoral fellow 2005/2006) at the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center (Seattle, WA), working on T cell engineering strategies in large-animal models and clinical research protocols.

Sanjay Popat

Professor Sanjay Popat is a Consultant Thoracic Medical Oncologist at the Royal Marsden Hospital and Professor of Thoracic Oncology at the Institute of cancer Research. His research interests include the development of novel drug strategies for the treatment of thoracic cancers through clinical trials, the identification of DNA variants that influence thoracic cancer development and their impact on clinical behaviour, as well as the identification of biomarkers predictive of therapeutic effect. He is co-director for the NIHR London South Clinical Research Network (CRN) Cancer Division and Chair of Cancer for the West London Genomic Medicine Centre. He Chairs the British Thoracic Oncology Group (BTOG), and is immediate past Chair of the UK NCRI Lung Cancer Clinical Studies Group (CSG) Advanced Disease Sub-group. He is active in the European Thoracic Oncology Platform (ETOP) and the European Organization for Research and Treatment of Cancer (EORTC) Lung Group.

Silvia Novello

Silvia Novello, MD, PhD is Full Professor of Medical Oncology in the Oncology Department at San Luigi Hospital in Orbassano, Italy, part of the University of Turin. She earned her medical degree and completed the postgraduate training in Respiratory Medicine and Medical Oncology at the University of Turin and partially at the Institut Gustave Roussy, in France. Currently, she is head of the Thoracic Oncology Unit at the San Luigi Hospital, Orbassano (Turin), where she also tutors medical students and Postgraduate students in Respiratory Medicine and Medical Oncology. Prof. Novello’s research interests include thoracic malignancies, primary prevention, gender differences in lung cancer, basic, translational and clinical applied research on lung cancer, including pharmacogenomics. She is involved as PI in many International and national controlled clinical trials evaluating new approaches in diagnosis and lung cancer therapy. From July 2012 until 2016, Prof Novello has been a Member of the Board of Directors of the International Association for the Study of Lung Cancer and since October 2016 Member of the Board of Directors of the Italian Association of Medical Oncology, past Secretary and now part of the EORTC Lung Cancer Group and member of several scientific societies including the American Society of Clinical Oncology, American Thoracic Society and the European Society of Medical Oncology. Currently, she is the President of WALCE (Women Against Lung Cancer in Europe), a non profit European Association founded in 2006 in Turin, Italy, part of the scientific Committee of LuCe (Lung cancer Europe) and also member of the Scientific Committee of Bonnie J Addario Lung Cancer Foundation and Member of the Scientific Committee of ICAPEM (Investigación sobre Cáncer de Pulmón en Mujeres). She is the author or co-author of over 150 publications in peer-reviewed journals.

Egbert Smit

Egbert Smit is Professor of Pulmonary Medicine (with emphasis on Pulmonary Oncology) at the Netherlands Cancer Institute, Department of Thoracic Oncology (since 2014) and the Department of Pulmonary Diseases of the Leiden University Medical Center in Leiden, The Netherlands. After finishing his PhD thesis involving multidisciplinary studies between medical oncology, genetics and pulmonary medicine 1990, he became a board certified pulmonologist in 1997. He has since 1986 been involved in basic research and clinical trials ranging from chemoprevention of lung cancer to treatment of advanced disease (non) small cell lung cancer. He has been principle investigator of several national and international phase II and III trials. In the last decade the focus of his research has been on translational oncology and molecular imaging. AnneMarie Dingemans

Anne-Marie C. Dingemans MD, PhD is a pulmonologist and a professor of thoracic oncology. Since September 2019 she is a staff member of the department of pulmonary medicine at Erasmus Medical Center, Rotterdam, The Netherlands. Between 2004 and 2019 she was appointed as a staff member at the department of pulmonary medicine at Maastricht University Medical Center+. She received her medical degree at Maastricht University in 1994 and subsequently her PhD at VU Medical Center Amsterdam in 2000 for laboratory research on resistance to chemotherapy in lung cancer. She performed her training for respiratory physician at VU Medical Center in Amsterdam and Leiden University Medical Center. Currently she is involved in translational research on lung cancer, with special interest in neuroendocrine lung tumors, driver mutations and oligometastatic disease. Since January 2021 she is chair of the EORTC lung cancer group. She was involved in the EORTC initiative to develop a consensus definition on synchronous oligometastatic NSCLC. She is member of IASLC, AACR, ASCO, ERS, ESMO and ETOP. She is associate editor of the Journal of Thoracic Oncology and editorial board member of the International IASLC Lung Cancer News. She has (co)-authored more than 200 publications and book chapters.

Sara Pilotto

Dr. Sara Pilotto is a medical oncologist, assistant professor at Verona University Hospital Trust. Her main research areas include: i) clinical and translational research in lung cancer; ii) comprehensive approach to cancer patient, including phycological support, nutrition and physical activity; iii) methodology of clinical trials. She trained in both the national and international context, currently being member of the Lung cancer Guidelines Experts Panel of Italian Association of Medical Oncology (AIOM), of the Young investigators Lung Cancer Group of EORTC, of the ESMO Non-Metastatic NSCLC and other Thoracic Malignancies, of the ESMO Press & Media Affairs Committee and of the ESMO leadership program 2019. At Verona University Hospital Trust, she is leading the Lung Cancer Group and the FORCE (Focus On Research and CarE) Team, a multidisciplinary group, including a psychologist, a kinesiologist, and a dietitian.
