Sabita Jiwnani

Dr. Sabita Jiwnani is Professor of Thoracic Surgery in the Department of Surgical Oncology at Tata Memorial Centre, Mumbai, one of the largest comprehensive cancer care centres in Asia. Dr. Sabita has keen interest in minimally invasive thoracic surgery, including robotic surgery. She has been spearheading the thoracic robotic work at the Tata Memorial Hospital. Dr. Sabita has been involved in scientific research as co-investigator and principal investigator in numerous trials, mainly including intra-operative and peri-operative strategies to improve surgical outcomes and has many publications on the same topics to her credit. Her current and future projects involve screening, surgical procedural modifications, functional evaluation of post esophagectomy patients. She is the convener of the Thoracic Disease Management Group at Tata Memorial Hospital. She also has a keen interest in teaching and mentoring, and has been the co-ordinator of the resident teaching and rotation program of the surgical oncology department. She was also the chief editor of the "Atlas of Operative Surgical Oncology"- an operative atlas published to commemorate platinum jubilee celebrations of the Tata Memorial Centre in 2016. She has also been actively involved in organising oncology meetings and conferences. She is a member of national and international surgical oncology and thoracic surgery societies and a reviewer for surgical and oncology journals.
