Ambreen Sayani

Dr. Ambreen Sayani, MD, PhD, is a surgeon by training and has worked closely with cancer patients and their families. She is passionate about advocating for patient’s rights and has carried out both bench and bedside cancer research to improve treatment and provide socially-just care. She has held leadership roles across multiple healthcare industries and has consulted for private-sector organizations and governments. As a fulltime academic, Ambreen’s research is focused on the interface between social and health equity, and its implications for cancer risk, treatment and survival. She has presented at numerous conferences in Canada and Internationally, has several peer-reviewed publications and has received both leadership and research awards. Ambreen is a member of the Equity Advisory Committee for the Canadian Partnership Against Cancer, a member of the Medical Advisory Committee for the Canadian Cancer Survivor Network, and she is a Community Ambassador for the Region of Peel’s Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Charter. Ambreen is an Adjunct Professor in the School of Health Policy and Management at York University, holds a Canadian Institutes of Health Research funded Research Fellowship in Patient-Oriented research at Women’s College Hospital, Toronto and is a Research Affiliate at the MAP-Centre for Urban Health Solutions, St. Michael’s Hospital.
