Alberto Sandri
Dr. Alberto Sandri is a Thoracic Surgeon at San Luigi Gonzaga Hospital, Orbassano, Torino, Italy. He completed his speciality in thoracic surgery in 2016 at University of Torino with first class honours. During his years of speciality, Dr. Sandri completed a fellowship in minimally invasive thoracic surgery at St. James's University Teaching Hospital in Leeds, UK.
In the years following his speciality, Dr. Sandri worked as a thoracic surgeon at the European Instituite of Oncology (IEO) in Milan and at Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, Oxford, UK.
Dr. Sandri was appointed as a consultant thoracic surgeon at San Luigi Gonzaga Hospital in Orbassano (Italy) in September 2018, where he started the minimally invasive (VATS) program.
Since 2019, he focused onto uniportal VATS surgery after participating to the "International Uniportal VATS Training Course" at Shanghai Pulmonary Hospital, Tongji University, Shanghai, China.
His main fields of interests are Minimally Invasive Thoracic Surgery; Uniportal VATS Lobectomy and Segmentectomy; Thoracic Oncology; Mediastinal tumours and VATS thymectomy for Myasthenia Gravis.
He has published more than 50 scientific articles, is a reviewer and member of the editorial board of several thoracic surgery journals with IF, is author and co-author in 10+ book chapters, and made many national and international congress presentations.
He is on the General Medical Council Cardiothoracic Specialist Register since 2016 and an active member of the European Society of Thoracic Surgeons (ESTS) and IASLC.
